Things you should know about garage door springs:

The more torque that you have on your spring, the more weight it will support. Torsion springs are a lot easier to adjust than extension springs. Extension springs usually last longer than torsion springs. There is usually a label or mark on the garage door that tells you when your spring needs to be replaced. Each of these types of springs has their own gauge for replacement and has other signs that it may need to be replaced too.

The more you know about garage door springs, the better and easier it will be to maintain your entire house. You want to keep your garage door open and running smoothly. Garage Door Springs should be replaced when they become weak or lose their tension. These basics will help you understand how they work and how they help with the lifting of a heavy garage door.

TWO TYPES OF GARAGE DOOR SPRINGS

There are springs that keep your garage door up and running smoothly. Garage Door Springs usually have a coil and 2 or 3 pieces of wire, with the wire being in coils. There are two types of springs: torsion springs, which use twist and tension to lift the door; or extension springs, which extend as the door is opening.

Torsion Springs

They are designed to lift the garage door. Torsion is produced from a circular shape inside the spring, where it is twisting around. When the door is lifted, this twisting motion will lift the door, because it's attached to the side of a shaft. They usually get their strength from a coil up inside it, which will extend when lifting the door and then stop at a set amount of movement above that . The more torsion force that you have built up, the more weight you can lift with one span team.

Extension Springs

These are springs that are built with an extension. The extension will allow the spring to be longer and stronger, which helps lift a garage door. They usually get their strength from a coil at the bottom of it, so that the moment that you lift the door, this powerful force will go up into it and then stop at a set amount of movement above that . It is ideal for opening your garage door because it helps lift your garage quickly. The more extension force you have built up, the more weight you can lift with one span team.
